Friday I hit the doc for prescription refills and assorted tests. It is a huge load off my mind that I have all my medications for a minimum of 4 months, and some as long as 8 months.
Saturday was Chuck Guthrie's funeral. Chuck played Lord Burleigh at the Bristol Faire for many years, and finally passed away last weekend. The funeral was wonderful. I have been to waaay too many funerals that seemed to be about some mythical person insead of the person who died, but this was really nice. They had pictures of him at faire and with the community theatre troupe he worked with. They had his most recent faire outfit on display, complete with dusty and well-worn shoes. And the place was filled to standing-room only with people who loved him. The minister had actually known him, and people told funny and meaningful stories. And the service concluded with a piper, and there wasn't a dry eye in the house. All agreed that he was either 'up there' kvetching with Jeanine (who played the Dowager Countess of Lennox until her death just over a year ago) or hanging out with the real Lord Burleigh and comparing notes. We also agreed that we need to meet off-season someplace OTHER than a funeral. Somebody needs to get married or something, so we can see each other in different clothes.
There being not enough time to go home and then come back for Song Circle in the burbs, we killed several hours in retail therapy. Hit Mistuwa for misc groceries I can't get at Dominicks (wakame, ginger-teryaki sauce, real udon, shrimp crackers and of course Pocky!). Was able to use my OfficeMax coupon on the date it expired to get a new ink cartrige for my printer, the better to print resumes & cover letters. And, of course, it's easy to kill several hours in a bookstore. (I now know the location of the bar with the best Scotch selection in San Francisco).
Song circle had a small crowd but was fun. I wasn't in a singing mood, so I picked mostly instrumental stuff, though I did lead a few chanties when other people picked them. It was nice to see Bart, Candy, & Angel again.
Today was reserved for nappage, some desultory efforts at cleaning, TV-watching (Frontline ran 'From Jesus to Christ' - a fascinating look into how Christianity developed from a historical perspective.), job-hunting (I sent 25 resumes out) and laundry. I still hae more laundry to get done, or

Hopefully by later in the week, I will have cleaned out my sewing room and started a few projects. (Have fabric for 2 skirts for me and want to toss together some chemises for sale. EVERYBODY needs chemises....)
Next weekend Jared & Ari visit. (I am SOOOOOO excited - we're going to TransWorld - THE National Halloween and party marketing show. fun fun fun fun fun !) We have a gig on the 17th (Corporate event for Motorola), rehearsal the 18th, recording the 19th, and I am one of the teachers at the Costumer's Guild meeting on the 21st. For someone who isn't working, my schedule seems awfully full....
