whaddaya think

I finally found a dress I like for my brother's wedding.

Of course, it's a clearance item, and not in my size, but I think I can manage to replicate it on my own

With a slightly fuller skirt, I think it would work for me.

I spent an hour poring over pattern catalogues, but was unable to find AYTHING I liked. Was considering a corset-y brocade top and plain full skirt, but was afraid about showing my underarm flesh-poofs.

Trust me, you'll be much better off making that for yourself, I've seen that dress in person, and it just isn't impressive in the least. Not to mention, it seemed to have been made for someone seven feet tall. Good luck!

I've noticed that sometimes the quality of stuff at Torrid is a little low, but it's sooo hard to find stuff for big chicks!

I think I can modify a basic skirt & top set to look a lot like that

Trust me, I know the toughness of finding clothes. I've been pretty much the same shape my entire life. The first time I went to Torrid I actually started to cry, because I found a pair of knee-high boots that actually fit around my calves.

I like them too, but the construction can be a little chintzy. And I don;t need THAT much black.

Oh, I wasn't disagreeing with you about the construction. And no one really needs that much black. Or that many zippers on the ass, for that matter.
