My $10 holiday
Dec. 22nd, 2004 06:36 pmI won't deny, I've had a serious case of holiday funk going on lately. I'm sick, I'm broke, and I'm all by myself. My unemployment got screwed up so not only do I not have money for shoppies or even groceries yet, but any further delay and my checking account will collapse like a house of cards.
But I got a box from my mommeee today, and everything is a little better now.
Mom had agreed to give me some money towards my new uniforms as most of my gift this year. I pulled $10 off of it (it won't make a difference in things bouncing) and am giving myself a $10 holiday!
I got eggs and milk and flour and sugar, so I can bake something yummy when I feel up to it. And a box of chocolate cake mix so I can bake something else yummy when I feel icky. Some yogurt so I feel nourished, and some egg nog so I feel celebratory.
And I have you, all of you who send me hugs when I am sick yet again (Wendy has her seasonal lung infection. Winter is a season - she's got a lung infection). Who cheer me up when I'm locked in a nasty concrete conference center with a brain stuffed full of rules and regs. Who send Bistro prezzies with a little something for me tucked inside. Who buy me dinners when I'm broke, and who lend me money when I don't ask, or who just listen to me whine.
Yeah, some stuff is the suck right now. But even check-bouncies will get paid within 2 weeks, and I have good antibiotics and lots of time to rest and books and DVDs to occupy me. I have stuff to bake and my apartment will soon smell yummy. And my nose will soon unclog so I can smell the yumminess.
Gingerbread, anyone?
