Jan. 22nd, 2006 05:08 pmLast year at this time things weren't too great for Minstrosity. We were late sending out demos, and rehearsals really lacked motivation. I was busy traveling with HSC and Josie and Nan were involved with their new life in the 'burbs. We talked about doing new stuff, but somehow it never really materialized. We have been performing together in one variation or another since 1998, and I was afraid that we had simply run out of steam.
I think the panicked lead-upRed Witch gig and the re-visit to KCRF really gave us a shot in the arm that we badly needed. We're back from our annual break with a bit more energy and motivation. We've had 3 inquiries for bids already - smaller shows but it's still early in the season. We dug back through the slush pile and have a nice mix of new stuff coming on line - 2 for each of us, a few group numbers and some instrumenals. That's a nice balance of material and realistic for us to learn. Not everyone shares my mutant power of remembering song lyrics.
It's nice to actually be looking forward to the season.
