A great heart has fallen
Apr. 16th, 2006 01:34 pmBart Rolsky died early this morning.
Bart and his wife Candace were fixtures at the Bristol Front Gate for many years. He was a great bearded man with a booming voice who dressed in cream and wore a large brass instrument around his neck. Candy accompanied the Frog Prince (puppet).
They were great supporters of all the musicians and they traveled to many other faires as well. I used to tease them about being part of the "Front Gate mafia" because they knew ALL the gate workers at Michigan, Kansas City, and probably quite a few others.
We happened to be on a flight back from KC with them once, and they insisted on driving John and I home. From Midway. To the North side of Chicago. When they live in Streamwood. That was just the kind of guy Bart was.
I spoke with Candy by phone this morning. She's pretty much running on autopilot right now. Memorial arrangements are still pending. Barton was an anatomical donor, but there is some question as to whether or not the body is acceptable because of his final medical condition. Plus it is taking forever to get the paperwork handled at a Catholic hospital on Easter Sunday. I will post when I know more. Since I am not working now, I offered to help out with practical stuff like organizing and cleaning.
