Hurry Up and Wait
Jun. 30th, 2006 09:35 amIt's Friday and I'm the only one in the office. CEO is in Hawaii, Manager is working from home, and the techs are either off or at clients.
Good thing CEO is in Hawaii, or I would have strangled him yesterday! Suddenly deciding that the Gay Games needed 8 printers and carts by Wednesday. Um - we managed to find the printers for rent (although they are 2 diff models) and after calling 5 different places I found one that could rent us 8 carts (Duh - it's a holiday weekend! They need them for their OWN gigs!)
AND the company that was supposed to copy the laptop image on to 26 machines turned the thing on and booted it up! So they had to bring it BACK from Schaumburg, our guy had to take it home and reset everything, and now it's on my desk waiting for pickup again. With big signs that say "DO NOT BOOT UP!!!" all over it.
So now I am waiting to ride herd on these jobs. But until someone either calls or shows up, I'm kind of stuck. Really not much to do except be available to put out fires and what not. With Pre-accreditation starting Wed morning for 2800 atheletes plus staff and press, I'm sure SOMETHING else will go wrong. I want a T-shirt or something for this.
*Stretch* So I've got a couple o books and a Netflix DVD, I've got my shoes off, and I'm just chillin'.
