Slugariffic Monday

I really need to watch it - I'm shifting to my body's natural 4AM-noon sleeping schedule, which will be hell if I get any job calls for morning interviews. Plus the added bonus of forgetting about calls I'm supposed to make until it's after business hours.

I slugged around most of the day but was actually mildly productive in the evening. I hit all the usual suspects for job listings. I made up all the demo disks I had labels and photo stock for, and packed up all the promo packets to be mailed tomorrow when the post awful is actually open. I will also need to go to Vague Fabrics to price/buy stuff for DW's Superhero outfit, then to Hancock to get whatever wasn't cheaper at Vague. I've been putting off bedding laundering to do prewashing with, so hopefully I can get that done tomorrow as well.

Does anyone know if there are any sales on pillows going on anyplace? I just realized that mine are old and scuzzy.

I also roasted up a chicken that I got on sale the other day. Ate some of it for dinner, stashed some in the fridge for later, and started making soup out of the rest. Enjoyed some of the rich broth while it was bubbling - mmmmmm. And I worked on a bid for a possible MM gig for Memorial Day weekend. Yay for possible gig but boo for possibly having to pull out of Marcon.

And of course sleeping up my daylight means I missed the tropical heat wave we had today - up to 42 degrees. Time to unpack my shorts and tank tops!

Living in a Comic Book World

I went to see Ghost Rider this evening.

It was pretty much what I expected - lots of action and CGI, with some fun moments.
But I was very bothered by a couple of things ....

If you're going to make a movie that takes place in a universe (like that of comic books), that universe still has rules. It is perfectly acceptable to say "the Ghost Rider's steed comes when he calls it", and as long as that always happens and as long as all the rest of the motorcycles/horses/skateboards/whatever still behave normally, then the universe still "makes sense" on some level.

But this film had a couple of points where they set up a rule and then proceeded to either change or ignore it. ( (cut for essay points that may be spoilery) )
