Let there be light!
Mar. 5th, 2007 11:55 amMy office desk lamp arrived today, proving that it takes surprisingly little to make me happy. Being able to see and work without getting a headache is fairly high on the list, along with sleeping late, sipping a fine scotch, and petting a bunny. Since the last 3 are unlikely to occur at the office (save the sleepy one which may happen around 4 or so at the rate I'm finishing the filing), I'll settle for brightness.
Had a solid 3.5 hour rehearsal for the Durty Nellie's gig yesterday - we now have 37 songs, which should nicely make up 3 sets of 45 minutes (allowing time for me to say stoopid things to the audience). Next week we will run everything for timing and space - the stage is 4'x8' and we need to figger out where to place everyone so no one gets tuning pegs up their nose or a fiddle bow in their ear.
Band schedule is starting to fill up nicely. We don't post details on the website till signed contracts come back, but I can say that we will be in Viroqua WI (near LaCrosse) over Memorial Day weekend and in Muncie IN on 7/14. But we're also running into one of the drawbacks of having a larger group - making sure all 4 of us are available for any given weekend. We have probably lost out on coming back to OKRF because our fiddler isn't available for the weekends they wanted us. I offered them the trio, but they've not gotten back to me. Le sigh. Well, I really didn't want to get up at 2AM Monday to drive back to Kansas City (because apparently no one needs to do business travel to-from either Tulsa or Oklahoma City) and catch a 7:15 flight for Chicago in order to get to the day-job anyway.
Back to filing.....
