Yay - I'm getting a lung infection!

Actually, that IS a big yay because unlike a cold, a lung ick can be treated with antibiotics. Therefore, there is a distinct chance that by tomorrow I'll be on meds and feel better. So yay!

For the local Chicago folks, that article on the Reader (pg 6) about the datacenter that keeps getting robbed - yes that is the one that my former employers had co-located in. The robbery in September of 06 was the one that cost me my job because the company took too big a hit to be able to maintain staffing. But it turns out that the place was robbed TWICE before that, and again last month, when someone sawed through the un-reinforced drywall from the hallway and again made off with a nice carload of high-traffic servers and equipment. Looks like that lawsuit they filed may have some merit after all. Good luck to them.

Last night [livejournal.com profile] ashtalet and I went to the MembersBehind-The-Scenes night at the Shedd Aquarium, aka "Confuse-A-Fish". I felt kind of bad for some of the critters like the huge catfish that swam hopefully and ponderously up to the side of the tank and sort of hung there - clearly thinking in a slow and fishy way "but why aren't you feeding me? I see a face there and there is food." Poor hungry stoopid fishy.

It was baby-whale nappy-time when we went over to the Oceanarium, but we could see Bella and her mommy and Mayuk and her boy-calf swimming in sleepy circles with one eye open as that half of their brain slept. Apparently Bella thinks the new calf is kind of cool but he isn't quite sure what to make of her.

We got to see how you ultrasound a shark and how you design an exhibit and train an otter and saw miles and miles of pipes and had snacks. [livejournal.com profile] ashtaletgot to pet an iguana.
