That Gov't contractor? Doesn't actually HAVE the contract to staff the centers yet. They are one of the two finalists but the contract hasn't been awarded yet. They are ramping up so that if they are chosen they will have people in place in a fairly short amount of time. This is fairly consistent with my experience of government contractors.
They also seem to have been missing my actual offer letter (and those of at least one other person who was there when I was), but I read through a blank one and see nothing objectionable. I got to ask my questions (the job site is downtown and there is no overtime or weekends expected for my position grade) and told them that they could e-mail me the letter and I would fax or e-mail the signed letter back to them.
So since this is still terribly nebulous, I can cheerfully sign the offer letter with no qualms about not actually taking the contract if I find something better.
Then I went to Target and to the Sara Lee Factory Outlet and to American Science and Surplus. Now I'm home nomming on a delicious breakfast pizza and waiting for the dishwasher to finish before heading out to the birthday-ness Chez
ashtalet.
