I has a skary sword!

OK it's a letter opener that I got for $5 at goodwill because it would be useful AND freak out my co-workers. It was hard to see in the photos what a thing of glorious hilarity is really is.

It is so far over the top that it's halfway down the other side!

It's 11" from tip to tip, and the hilt and crosspieces are covered with eyeballs, masks, vaguely egyptian symbols and tentacles in "antiqued gold finish"!

I'm sure someone paid way too much for it when it was new. Now it's just silly.

So I am currently laying waste to the mail with slashings and pokings of eldritch horror! (and possibly cackling to myself rather quietly)

The BluRay disc of Cloverfield has a "special Investigations Mode" where you can play the movie in a smaller window within a larger framework that shows a map of events as they happen, with Clovie and the military as glowy dots AND extra notes.
