Schoolhouse Rock!
Jun. 9th, 2008 02:09 pmI spent part of last evening transferring my $2 Goodwill VHS tape of 'Schoolhouse Rock' to DVD. I now have ALL of them. Mwa ha ha.
Even the ones I don't remember..
Now most of you know that I'm a mutant when it comes to remembering words and music - I can still sing stuff I remember learning in 3rd grade choir (complete with the choreography - such as it was). As such, I totally relied on Multiplication Rock to get through junior high. To say math is not my strong suit is like saying rain is wet or that cats are pointy. But singing 'Mean Old Number 9' or 'Lucky Seven Sampson' in my head covered my ass plenty of times.
The others weren't as concretely useful (although can you recite the preamble to the constitution WITHOUT singing it?). Still, I remember when they first came out on tape and Connie had a party and showed a bunch of them, she and I were still able to sing most of them.
But there was a Grammar Rock that I saw last night that I have no memory of ever seeing as a child. It was apparently about Prepositions, which were played by these odd little bug-like creatures wearing hardhats and overalls - I think to allude that they "put things together" in a sentence. I remember every other one I saw, at least partially. But this one - no clue.
Maybe they didn't show it on the east coast or something.
Does anyone else remember that one?
