I'm officially allergic to bunnies
Jul. 7th, 2008 08:33 pm(not that this is going to stop me, of course.....)
Where Pepper bit my leg yesterday? Has been surrounded all day by a swollen itchy area (like an enormous hive) the size of my palm.
As the day progressed, (and I put a cold soda can on it for a while) it got less swollen but more red. Despite repeated applications of Benadryl spray it's still itchy and hot. The two teeth marks and bruising in the middle make it look like some kind of enormous snake bite.
When you are allergic to an animal, it is usually to one of two things - either the proteins in the saliva or the dander and skin flakes. I think it's pretty conclusive that it's the saliva in my case (and by extension the fur, since bunnies groom constantly) because I'm having one hell of an allergic reaction to a single bite that barely broke skin and caused no noticable bleeding at the time.
