Proving that even today there is still "regrettable food"!

"OK - either the attorney review period is over or it isn't, depending on who you ask.

Either way I have the inspection scheduled for tomorrow and as far as I know we have not yet received a copy of the short sale agreement. This has already been rescheduled once because of lack of documentation.

I'm going to need some kind of sign from the seller that this is actually going to go forward (besides absurd timetables and delayed documents) before I go and spend money on this.

Please let me know what response we can get from the seller's attorney today."

The seller's attorney is a dick.

Word from the seller via the agents' grapevine (both are in the same office) says that the lawyer hasn't responded to the last 3 phone messages that they left him. And he's not responded to my lawyer's faxed letter of last Friday morning.

My lawyer says (and I agree) that I can't proceed on this without some sign on the other end that things are moving, and that the possibility of this not going through is looking larger by the day.

I told my agent to grapevine back that if I don't get anything back by 3:30 I'm cancelling, and I'm NOT rescheduling unless there is real sign that the seller's team is moving forward with the deal.

Also if we don't get a response from the attorney (or word that the sellers have ditched this loser and hired someone else) by 1st thing Monday morning that I'm going to consider this deal a lost cause and move on with my life. My agent says that certainly sounds like a plan.

It would suck, but that's about as long as I'm prepared to wait. Half of my life is in boxes and as of now the seller could say "sorry we told you our closing requirements and you said 'no'. Kthxbye".

I said I needed paperwork by 3:30.

It arrived at 3:25. (sigh)

I had even sent an e-mail directly to the seller, beginning "I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be doing this, but Hi - I'm the person who's trying to buy your condo..." I briefly outlined the timetable from my end and asked both if there was anything that I or my tream could do to help things advance and if there was anything they could do from their end to clear the paperwork blockage. Neither of us wants this to fall apart, and I'm willing to meet in the middle on the closing date, but the 31st ain't gonna happen so let's start working on the next best thing.

Not sure if it was this or my agent going to their agent, but I now have a copy of the original short sale agreement (which includes instructions on how to extend it) so I'm going to go ahead with the walkthrough tomorrow morning at 9.
