When you see this, quote Blackadder in your LJ.

"I may have the body of a weak and feeble woman, but I have the heart and stomach of a concrete elephant!"

But I'm giving up and attacking that dresser with Gorilla Glue! I think that once I get it firm and not-wobbly, I MIGHT be able to get the drawers open regularly without either having them come off the rails or pulling the front of the drawer off.

I'm just mean to my furniture I guess.

I stopped by Dollar General for some cheap rugs and they also have cheap door-mirrors to I'm going back tomorrow. I decided that trying to haul 2 5x7 rugs AND a mirror on the bus was a bad idea. Because of my allergies I really can't have any textiles that can't be put in a washing machine, so cheep is just fine. Plain blue for the living room and black for the bedroom.

I also ran an online calculator to figure out how much paint I'm going to need to paint this place. Looks like if I use an inexpensive but not cheap satin finish I'm looking at an average of about $45/room. But since I'm using some colors in multiple rooms, AND making sure I round up a little so I can patch things later, it's not an exact calculation.

The bedroom will be blue - mostly one shade with bits of a slightly darker on the wall above the bed and some of the opposing wall. Eventually I'll paint the furniture in blacks and dark blues (the bedding and curtains alre already blues) and with a black rug and my Star Wars one-sheets plus other random art it will be cool, relaxing, and geek-flavored.

The hallway and half the living room walls will be a silvery-grey. One living room wall each (ajacent) will be the two blues from the bedroom. The Indian cotton curtains are pale blue-grey with flowers and a border in greys and blues. My couch cover is dark grey and the bookshelves are dark wood or black. There is a wall fan hanging above the TV on the east (air) wall, and the one-sheets for that room will be Godzilla '85 and Cloverfield, with one wall for my small collection of ukiyo-e prints of geisha. Or maybe the Indian wall hanging that I got in deep blues, purples, and green might work better - right now it's in the hall over the bookcase. I might pop a couple of the random onesheets like Sleeping Beauty and the Matrix 2 up there instead.

What can I say, I like cool jewel tones?

The kitchen needs to be repainted, and I think I'll stay with the cream in there and the studio, but I might do one accent wall of a nice soft dusty green (all the furniture in there is natural wood tones) but that depends - I may just cover the walls with shelves and not bother even repaiting for a while. (I have to do at least part of the kitchen - when I pulled down the random hanging lighting that was in the way it took a big section of paint with it!)

So I'm trying to decide if I just want to start hanging stuff so that it's UP and the walls aren't naked, or wait a few weeks until I have time to paint. Decisions decisions.

I NEED to find the charger for my cordless drill - I haven't hung curtain rods yet (curtains are hanging from string and thumbtacks so I could make sure I liked them) and I need to rig together the "charging station" in the kitchen for the Roomba and the Dustbuster. There is a space behind the kitchen door above the radiator that would be perfect for that kind of thing, but i need actual working tools to do it.

There is also one bundle of bookshelf parts and the other half of the cordless phone I promised [livejournal.com profile] ashtalet that have yet to surface as well. At least the phone part I've actually SEEN since I moved, but promptly forgot where it was.
