I am a bit less panicky today.

I called the electric company again and said "look - WTF?". Apparently the techs were here on 12/2 but couldn't get in and the cond bd president didn't answer her phone. Yeah - big surprise there! So they are going out again and they have HER number AND my office number and if they can't get in they will call me. I can try a couple of other people while they hold, and since I'll be talking to the actual guys I should be able to set up an appt directly with them if they need to come back.

Pepper seems livelier at least - there was quite a session of bouncy-couch last night and this morning's round of "get-the-bunny-out-from-under-the-bed-and-into-the-nebulizer-box" was significantly more challenging than yesterday's. Not sure how things are on the inside but she certainly seems to *feel* better. She growled at me from under the bed, and used her chew-sticks to bang on the side of the tub. That towel is really taking a beating in there.

I also have inquiries in to a couple of agencies about what can be done about my condo board.

See - as long as there is something I can DO about a situation I can manage it. But with all the stress hitting at once on Friday and nothing i could do about ANY of it - I tend to fall apart and wibble.

Well that worked.

Got a panicked and hostile call from the condo board pres. Explained several times that notice in writing is what's required, that I know she MEANS well but that doesn't change that what they are doing is illegal, and that no really I just need to see the records. So I crossed my Ts and dotted my Is and scared the pants off them and pissed them off and I can't bring myself to care. At least I have their attention.

My mantra on this is going to be "Look I dont have to like you and you don't have to like me - but we're business partners and we have to work together".

Heard all kinds of excuses and "We don't know what we're doing" - and I said "Fine - I'll knock together a quick summary of all those rules you say you don't have time to read". Got it down to 2 pages, bulleted. What the board can and can't do, what the association can and can't do, and which is responsible for some things. Some of the things she said also lead me to believe that many of the records I asked for don't exist, which is part of why I asked to see them in the first place. So you make up an affadavit that says "as of this date the records cannot be located - therefore we are starting from here". Easy Peasy. Won't protect you from getting sued, but shows good faith.

I expect to be at least on the Board if not Pres by April. Like I said when I first started considering a condo purchase, Eventually I'm just going to say "look - GIVE ME THAT before you hurt yourself/get us sued". I did it with Moebius, I can certainly do it again.*

In other news, Pepper's bloodwork looked fine - glucose a teeny bit high but that could be from stress - we WERE at the vets for more than an hour that afternon. She's down to 6.3 lbs so I don't have to wory about the treats I'm having to use to bribe her to take her meds. (she should be around 6.5)




*when I was elected President of a small theatre company back in the day, (as several people still on my F-list can attest because they were on the board), the "files" that were handed over to me consisted of an envelope of cash, a couple of old programs, an old contract on crumbling thermal fax paper with hand-written notations, a gum wrapper and a dead moth. I'm told it was much like that scene where Indy opens the Ark of the Covenant and finds it's full of sand. A little research showed that the organization was weeks away from being dissolved by the State for not filing any paperwork for 4 years, and a previous treasurer had embezzled some fairly significant funds. But by the end of the term, we were all legal, files made sense, and nearly all of the funds had been repaid. Also, detailed instructions of what to do if it happened again were written up and multiple copies scattered around the file box.
