fun with work comp
Aug. 11th, 2009 02:43 pmYesterday, a stack of file boxed collapsed on me in the elevator, and I knew something went wrong in my left knee. I iced it, filed an incident report and generally limped around the rest of my day.
When I tried to get up this morning it started to fold under me, so I called HR and set off for my adventures in work comp clinics.
Took an hour and a half to get there because I took the slow-bus-no-stairs route. almost 3 hours there for x-ray, assorted poking, peeing in a cup, and lots of paperwork.
I have a "sprain of unspecified area of left knee and leg", a day off without pay (since I'm out of sick days), some work restrictions, and a follow-up and PT appt on Thursday.
Kind of annoyed because I didn't get to pick the time for the Thurs appts (except for "Do you want to do it when you come back to see the doctor or come back later?") so to make up for it I have to work late on Thursday, which screws up the Merry Measure rehearsal schedule.
But mostly it's just an annoyance. With the 800mg Ibuprofen and the brace they gave me, I'm OK on even ground but stairs and uneven sidewalks suck. But could be worse.
