COMB has been particularly annoying today. Yesterday he threw away 6 new rolls of packing tape because "we don't need that many", so this morning I had to run to Kinkos to buy another roll...
Two days ago he angrily pulled some files out of a drawer and demanded they be put elsewhere because "This will get confusing". They were in a drawer that he had specified they went into, even down to the typeface on the labels and the side of the folder the tabs went on. Today he asked where they should go, and they are now exactly back where they were when we all started. So it's been that kind of day.
On the plus side, Windycon programming is progressing nicely. We've done some tweaking of panel topics and the current list includes:
- Parts is Parts-lets build something from things we find in a box
- Found materials-thrift store finds/costuming from the hardware store?
- Types and tropes-character classes in Steampunk and beyond
- My Favorite things-tools/materials you never thought you needed
- Don't lick the wallpaper - Color and the Victorians (actual history)
- Ooh Shiny! Metalworking 101
- Distressing your Damsel - using paint/dyes/sandpaper/your car/etc to get a less-than-new look.
- Something about props/painting that still needs a name
- Victorian Crochet class
- Wigged Out!
I've also picked out the ribbons and colors for people's badges. We have 50 each ribbons for Masquerade Conpetitor, Awesome Hall Costume, and I Walked The Clockwork Catwalk, and hopefully they will end up in steamy colors like brown w/copper, brown w/gold and maroon w/silver. (No Karen, they didn't have Mauve.) They may not be the flashiest ribbons there but the people who get them would likely rather they harmonize with the costumes anyway.
Apparently I have a budget that these are coming out of but since no one had actually mentioned that I HAD a budget, I asked them to run it by Special Events to make sure but that it was likely OK.
