Round One and Done
Oct. 2nd, 2009 11:17 amChicago is out in the first round of voting for the 2016 Olympics, and I for one am glad for it.
This city seems constitutionally unable to do ANYTHING on time and under budget. We have historically entrenched culture of corruption in our public officials, and having worked on both the World Cup Opening Ceremonies AND the Gay Games and both ended up with some pretty spectacular cluster-fucks organization-wise.
I think that we got some good publicity out of the effort, but all the same I'm glad we don't have to deal with the headaches and the crushing load of debt that this would have produced.
