Oct. 15th, 2009 09:01 pmIn about an hour and a half tonight I've mostly constructed my knockoff scoundrelle underbust-corset-dress.
This pattern, gotten for $.99

Without the bodice part it's basically a high-waisted princess-seamed skirt. I shortened it to just-past-knee-length, re-shaped the top edge, and then made a boned "facing" that is turned, topstitched, and then stitched-in-the-ditch along the seamlines to keep it in place. It's zoing to zip up the side, and with the addition of a grosgrain waist stay it should work properly.
It's in a plain navy blue "mystery fabric". I wanted something with a suitable silhouette as a base for the Adventuress outfit I'm building. Basically, I wanted an excuse to wear my ray-gun, and I'm modding up a Crafstman My First Engine kit

as hopefully a Backpack Time Machine. I repainted it over the weekend - the red plastic part is now a hammered black/bronze, the radiators are a matte silver distressed with some "grease" aka black liquid shoe polish, and the various molded bits are suitable painted. I'll have pics up hopefully this weekend.
That's going to go one a backpack/belt arrangement with some pouches and a raygun holster. I'll add a shirtwaist, petticoat, fingerless gloves, stripy socks and either my skate-mod boots or my pseudo-vic ones. and finally yes, goggles.
