wendyzski: (Masquerade)
Made my way to the post office to get the holiday boxes out, and then to the grocery store. While I was there my phone rang. It was our property manager.

See, we got posession of a foreclosed unit in our building so we can rent it out to try and recover our costs, and the repair guys who got in fine a few days ago suddenly couldn't get in. We feared someone was barricaded inside. So the manager called the police and I met them there. It turned out to be a broken lower lock on the front door (mine doesn't work that well either) so the door wouldn't open with the key turned in the lock. The police were really nice about it, and helped us figure out how to break in the back door with minimal damage (they used my hammer to beat out the swing-lock so we only had minor damage to the doorframe), and actually did go in with guns drawn. The maintenance crew wanted to go watch and I was like "no really, we're going to stay out here on the porch until they give us the all-clear!"

But all is well, the guys start cleaning tomorrow and I'll have their keys on Saturday for when the exterminators come. And I'm in line for the nice old sideboard that was left behind in the kitchen.
