Yes, I stayed home last night and called off rehearsal because the roads were a mess. But that was not the only reason - it was potential irritation/hazard plus my lingering bronchitis.
Because 6 inches of snow in Chicago is not an emergency - it's "winter".

I also put off my errand-running off until today because there was no compelling reason not to. By noon everything was clear. Picked up a package, got a haircut, bought groceries, and got money. Now aside from laundry I've really got no reason to have to go out again for a while - not because it's snowy, because we're looking at daytime highs in the single digits for the next few days and I think my face is more attractive with actual skin on it.

Sprinkled diatomaceous earth around on the indoor plants - take THAT fungus gnats! Have a batch of sunflower seed bread in the machine. Got another free Netflix trial and have been streaming a crash course in vintage Dr. Who - Have watched Genesis of the Daleks, The Ark in Space, The Robius Operation (which in my head continues to be The Rooibos Operation) and The Pirate Planet. I have on Instant Queue the other three Key To Time eps, The Horror of Fang Rock and The Talons Of Wen-Chen. Any other suggestions are welcome.

Am going to the Monday evening 7PM show of The Imaginarium of Doctor Pasnassus at the Music Box if anyone is interested. Tuesday evening at 6 at the downtown library there is a free preview showing of the first hour of the new film version of "Emma" with a talk afterwards by some Austen scholars. Note to self - do not ask about zombies OR ninjas.

Have decided not to go in for the Angel Food Ministries box this month - more than half of it is stuff I don't really like, and even the cheapest deal is pointless if you're not going to eat it. They have some nice meat assortments but all said I think I'll just skip this time.

Did not make it past the phone interview round on the last job opp. Bleh. I did get appointed to serve as a Judge of Election for the 2/2 primary. It's a bloody long day (5AM to 7PM) but the $230 (including the $50 for going to the 3 hr training session the week before) will come in awfully handy. I'm enough of a stickler that I should have no problem with the actual job duties (I suspect the main challenges will be to stay awake and to not actually punch anyone we catch electioneering) and I'll bring a nice stack of books. I'm also going in next week to take the test for p/t Census workers. Again it's no great challenge but the hourly is good and I could use the cash.

Time to be disapproved of - Pepper has been leaving fur clumps on the pillows at bedtime, so it's time for the HairBuster comb.....
