Got up early (for me anyway - 10:00) to set out the rolls to rise. Renfield was awake and rooting thru his bedding for spilled munchies. He definitely looks more alert and sleeker - he is grooming himself better, though I still need to bathe his butt every few days. I even think he has put on some weight - YAY! The most important part is that he is more comfortable.

Gamingetc at J&J's in the afternoon. We took on a longer-form game than usual - something Arkham/Cthulhoid that John B brought. Play was fairly simple but there seems to be a rule for everything with a lot of special circumstances. Add that to the usual first-time "okay, what can I do now" thing, and we were getting nowhere fast - 3 hours of play and we only had 2 of a needed 5 gates closed. At that point dinner intervened and we decided to quit where we were. I think it could be interesting, but we'd need at least 4 hours to devote to it to be sure.

[livejournal.com profile] jfc013 and [livejournal.com profile] ashtalet made turkey, corn, and some kind of exploding fried noodles (thus satisfying the Hannukah 'fried in oil' thing, as well as the 'well, we needed to vacuum anyway" thing). [livejournal.com profile] post_toastie and [livejournal.com profile] blkhawk brought a veggie tray. They also brought [livejournal.com profile] miridearie, who gurgled and cooed and generally spit up all over, and also provided hours of entertainment for [livejournal.com profile] pensnuggles (who brought - what else - cheese!). And [livejournal.com profile] daryljfontaine brought several kinds of far-too-addictive cookies.

Oh - and now you can Buy a Fungus from Yuggoth for your child

Then we watched 3 eps of The Muppet Show. The 70s fashions and scary feathered hair frightened me. The Avery Schreiber episode prompted a brief age division within the room - there were those who actually knew his comedy stuff and those of us who only knew him as a game-show regular. Him and Charles Neslon Riley (whoever he was).

I received a lovely gift from [livejournal.com profile] jfc013 - Happy Bunny Evil Checkers! It looks much like regular checkers, but when you take a piece you follow the directions on the back. It may be a snarky saying ("run along and die now") or it could be instructions (replace one of your opponent's pieces, etc). Looks like a slighly interesting spin on it. Plus, it's Happy Bunny - my hero!

Not much in the books for this week. Mostly re-working the sleeping hours, general errand-running and getting set for the new jobby. I need to take a day and lock myself in the CineArts in Evanston to crank thru a couple of movies I've not gotten round to yet. If the weather doesn't suck I might do a visit to the aquarium and maybe Chinatown. But mostly I'll be taking full advantage of my free time now that it is finite.
