Doesn't sound right that the focus/distortion should be *that* off, if the size is just about the same. You might want to get them to double-check that the focal point of the lenses is in the right spot. It's apparently easy for them to screw up, and no amount of time can get your eyes used to it (I had one place re-do them *five* times... yeah, they figured it wrong that many time... no I don't go there anymore).
The getting used to not crowding the screen you just have to deal with on your own :-)
I'd ask if we could call you granny yet... but I suspect that remark would come back to haunt me, you being a tad younger and all :-)
