working my way thru my Netflix queue - tonight was Gamera: Revenge Of Iris (1999)
The usual tale of the horribly misunderstood giant turtle who really IS a friend to all mankind. This time he fights a hypermutated Gyaos that has been raised by a little girl who blames Gamera for the death of her parents. Yeah- I guess it makes more sense if you are Japanese.
Anyway, I mention this because of one of the 'Extras' that had me falling off my sofa. There is a Commentary track featuring Gamera, Iris, and Sam (#6) discussing their roles in the film. Gamera has a British accent and speaks of playing the character for 37 years and the lucky happenstance where he encountered THE perfect role for a 200-foot-tall flying reptile. Iris has a Russian accent and talks about this breakout role for her and the challenges she faces as a tentacled actor. "Sam" has a broad Southern USA accent and to hear him tell he apparently played every minor and extra role in the film! This track alone was worth the price of rental!
