*Sigh*

Took Pepper back to the Red Door Shelter for another round of bunny-speed-dating. She met three boys - Sawyer (tan uppy), Kenny (red-eyed white uppy) and Gabriel (grey uppy).

Nada.

Gabriel started off by humping her - she tolerated it but the turned on him

Sawyer slowly approached and gently nuzzled her under the chin, but when she didn't groom him in response he got pushy and she boxed at him.

She and Kenny ignored each other for a while, but just never hit it off.

The other buns were either not yet neutered or on medication for something, so they weren't available for dates. There was one - but he was a dutch described as "friendly and playful", which we thought would set her off just like Frisco did.

Sigh. I'm just starting to think that she just doesn't like other bunnies. I feel kind of bad for her - once MiRF starts she'll be all alone in the apartment most of the time and I worry about her being lonely. But she was pretty obviously having none of this, so I guess we're done until November-ish.

Sorry to hear about the bunny-date problems. Maybe she really is more of a loner bunny...

She likes people.

She likes large quiet dogs.

She just hates other bunnies.

Okay, so you need to find some way to litter-box-train a Newfoundland...

waCHOOOOOO!

At the shelter they said "Well, get her a dog". Um - not happening

I'm playing "let's all get along" with two spoiled, fiesty cats and a very sweet, very snuggly 7.5 month old Husky Puppy.... going much better than I thought possible, but mostly because Terra (dog) is very very very good, and got on well with my mom's rabbit.

Ah, yes, I had forgotten about that.

'Course the mental image of a Newfoundland using a litter box is just a bit mind-boggling at the moment...

Curious? What happened to your pseudo-planned bunny-date with the other lop-mix?

Can two anti-bunnysocial bunnies get along?

He stood her up!

Well, actually, his human did. She had a last minute rehearsal and had to cancel, but never called back to reschedule.

And it depends on how they are "antisocial". Grumpy and chasing is ok, actual aggression is not.

And even if they're not so antisocial at the dating place, you still have to be careful once they get home (like you did with Frisco)... Trixie and Sarah got along just fine when we introduced them, and they didn't have an issue the whole car ride home... Two days later Trixie put a hole in Sarah's foot, and that was the end of that.

It also could be that she just hates the shelter.

We had a situation at The Haven where a lady came in with a prima donna alpha girl that she had tried many times to bond, always to no avail. She ended upo going home with a pair of bonded males, making an instant trio. The bond worked, somehow the dynamic of 3 was different and worked better. There may be hope yet for Pepper.
