Cops were here - got one good print off of a plastic check folder they went through in my desk, but everything else had textured surfaces.

But most interesting of all - the neighbors across the hallway actually came face to face with the guy! Husband is on vacation this week and came home with groceries to find back door kicked in and the guy in his apartment. They called thye cops and apparently there was quite a scene with several squad cars around 12:30. But since my door didn't look broken (or maybe there were two of them and the other heard the commotion and stayed put) no one went into my place.

Also happily, all of the jewelry that was on my floor belonged to them - including her graduation ring from HS in Belize. Not expensive, but priceless to her.

So now I'm waiting for the engineer to come and repair my door. (he came while I was writing this - we've got it cobbled for the night but there is a real carpenter coming tomorrow to fix the neighbor's back door, so he can replace the frame on mine ay the same time.

The only thing I'm still worrried about is Pepper - when they were going through stuff they knocked a bag of horehound drops on the floor, and it looks like she ate at least half the bag. Last time she got into them she had a 2-day tummyache. She's nibbling on her greens, and I plan to get out fresh hay to encourage her to eat lots. Hopefully she'll just be a little wonky for a day or so.

I was robbed once 2 apartments ago and that was when I went through the whole "feeling violated" thing. Now, what with everythign else that's been going on, it's more like "great - one MORE way for the universe to piss in my cornflakes".

Glad you and Pepper are OK!

Bad that it happened, good that you're dealing with it fairly well (not to mention the jewelry thing as far as your neighbors are concerned).

Poor Pepper.. silly rabbit. HOpefully the horehound won't bother her too much (or rather the sugar in those drops... the horehound itself is probably actually fine for bunnies :-)

I'm sorry you're dealing with this. I wish that I could mow him down with the PWoD.

(((hugs and love to both of you, from me and Pudge)))

Grr. I still haven't quite fixed the window from my car getting broken into. Brice managed to patch it up by cutting some fiberglass, and using clear duct tape, so at least it's something solid-ish.

As far as what got stolen, one of my friends replaced all my Stronghold games, I lost all my Sims 2 games (Sims 1 is fine, I was lucky to have it stored elsewhere!), they got a pirate ship kite, and DAMNIT, they got Grandma's handwritten recipe book! That's really the only thing I can't replace. :(

Other than that, considering the sheer number of times my parents took my stuff... Heck, I made out better with old boyfriends! Every time Wra (my son's father) comes to visit me, he brings back something I haven't seen in 10+ years. Last time, it was an 80+ year old opal ring I wore for my HS senior pictures. The matching necklace is still missing, as are my class rings, but he says he's seen them around his place, and will bring them next time. Last time, it was my HS jacket, and photo albums of my son I'd never seen before. I still haven't finished scanning them into my computer.

But with Grandma's stuff, I don't even know if Grandma's alive anymore; I just know she's not in the same nursing home, and nobody will tell me where she is. She wasn't exactly coherent the last time I spoke with her either. So losing anything that once belonged to her majorly sucks!
