wendyzski: (running of the stupid)

Ugh

I'm tired.

Today involved a lot of shouting and aritfical emergencies by COMB (Crazy Old-Man Boss). The one who was yelling at the fax machine last week. Because it wasn't a copier. (it CAN be a copier, but not a very good one. And you have to actually push the COPY button, as opposed to feeding in your paper, staring at it, and then yelling.

He has decided that the entire office file system needs to be re-vamped in the next 2 weeks. This was prompted by the fact that he was unable to find a document that I physically handed to him at his request last Wednesday.

While I agree that the office file system is a joke, perhaps right now (when we have the COO AND the HR Manager working p/t from home because of family medical leave and the rest of us are at least a week behind on our to-do lists) is not the best time to do this.

I'm hoping that the COO can talk him out of this, or at least to delay it. If it DOES need to be done, get a temp for a week and have THEM do it. I refuse to bust my ass by staying late because they can't be assed to have enough people to do the work needed. Your lack of planning does not constitute my emergency.

Oh, and the CDs arrive tomorrow. I handed COMB's son a letter saying that 9 boxes were expected and that they were my personal property and I should be allowed to remove them from the building. (We have to do this any time we take stuff out, to prove we're not stealing stuff.) Except he REFUSED to sign the letter because he wants to see the boxes first, even though I have the tracking info and receipt. Except they are coming tomorrow and he won't be there. Hopefully I can get someone else to sign so that I can take my very expensive personal property home.

It's all about trust - Despite my having been there for more than a year, they refuse to place any trust in me, for no apparent reason. I am required to bring a note from a doctor every time I call out - what exactly is this supposed to accomplish - to make me get sick less? Apparently they have never considered the idea that I might be telling the truth.

I am soooo sick of this place.

On the plus side, rehearsal went very well tonight so other than some personal drilling on words we don't have to try and squish another session in before Monday's gigs. Cuz I need a serious break.

You know, when you quit your job I bet you could burn their asses with the requirement for a signed letter. Have someone ship you a package or packages with relatively unimportant/inexpensive stuff in them through USPS. I don't think they can legally prevent you from taking it with you if it's unopened. I may be wrong, but I think that's the case. I don't think they can force you to open it either.

I was quite surprised when Pepper actually deigned to allow me to pet her for a full ten seconds before flouncing away. And moreso when she binkied twice during our practice!

"And you have to actually push the COPY button..."

I think that is asking a lot, really. Yeesh!

"Your lack of planning does not constitute my emergency."

Well, yes, it always has as far as my own experience has shown. *feh* Nice theory, tho.

Any news on that other job?

Small office with problems

They really are a very dysfunctional office. I hope that your interviews lead to a much more functional place.

It sounds like you have yourself one of them pigeon bosses, you know the kind that swoops in shits all over everything and then flies away.

Then sooner you can leave that place the better.
