My brother plays viola. "Violas burn longer" is my automatic response to that question even when people ask it in earnest. I've heard it too many times.

(Actually, I prefer the viola's sound to the violin's, meself. But who am I to talk? I play the BASS. Or, as some idiots call it, the "cello.")
