she pretty much confirmed what I thought. Hang in there and take the xanax if I have to, and see her on Thursday to get things updated in my file.

She said "I still want to switch you off the Paxil" but agreed that waiting till after faire season is fine. And I politely broached the "given what happened this time I think I'd rather work with a specialist on that when the time comes". Cuz she's a great doc most of the time but really doesn't have the experience I need with these particular meds.

Since Ripco is still down, I signed up with a bargain-basement dial-up service for a month so I will still have net access from home. I still can't access my e-mail so use the work addy for now. (see last entry). This way when I've psyched myself into a freakout, I can IM with people in other time zones who are awake anyway, or check crazymeds.us (it's all good - I already want to bash another poster with a poker), or look up side effects, or pics of baby bunnies. That helps.

Thanks for being there (or is it technically "here") for me. This sucks.

thanks.

I love my doctor dearly - she recognizes me by my cough when I come in.

But "Whoops! Sorry." wasn't quite the response I was looking for from her today.

Not local, but still thinking about you, and sending as many 'good things' vibes as I can...

that just means you're less likely to get the "I need to not be home tonight. Can I come occupy your couch for a few hours?" phone calls. :)

Really, those are perfectly fine. It's not like I'm going to say "No, why don't you just go out and see if you can find that tornado" instead. :-)

Bad med reactions totally suck. I'm glad you got it sorted (relatively) quickly.

*big supportive hugs*

thanks. It was pretty dreadful, and of course I'm worried that I'll psych myself into a panic just thinking about it. But I have the old meds back again, so it's just a matter of hanging in there until they can get things un-wobbled. I suck at waiting, but that's what I have to do.

I just remember how far I allowed myself to go on the prozac, and how awful it was and it was *nothing* as bad as what you described. The bad reaction I had to codiene, which intensifies that pain it was supposed to treat, sends me bouncing off the walls with nervous energy and snarling at anyone who comes near me, wasn't as bad as what you described.

Does your doc have somebody to refer you to?

I have a POS plan, so I can pick anyone I want. I'll ask for my doc's input, but I'll also look on my insurance site to see if there is anyone near my office for convenience, and can always switch if I hate them.

Yeah - someone on crazymeds posted a rather annoying "If you're not prepared to stick it out for 6 weeks, you shouldn't bother". I replied "I was prepared for side effects. Nearly ending up in the ER was rather more than I bargained on"

Idiot child does not understand that an adverse reaction is an adverse reaction. And something like what you experienced is not going to get better in 6 hours, 6 days or 6 weeks. In fact, a reaction that bad could get you dead in 6 weeks.

People are stupid.
