No - this is the usual progression that happens 2-4 times a year
Step 1 - have asthma Step 2 - get a cold (optional) Step 3 - start coughing, which worsens asthma symptoms Step 4 - every bacteria in the neighborhood goes "yaaaaay" and moves in Step 5 - lung infection aka "that cough I can taste"
then hopefully Step 6 - go to doctor and get a course of prednisone and an antibiotic from column B Step 7 - are you better y/n? If n, goto Step 6 Step 8 - infection clears Step 9 - inflammation sslloowwllyyy clears, with or without prednisone depending on how bad it was
These past 3 years the 6-7 round has gone around more times than I like. This past year we've been experimenting with an anti-inflammatory inhaler to be added in around step 3, in the hopes that things can be headed off at the pass. As of yet it hasn't worked, but we have managed to keep things from going off track to the "coughing blood" stage more than once a year.
I was doing better the first few days on the Z-pack but today I feel worse again, so I may have something resistant. The Z-pack runs out Friday and if I still think this I'll go back to the doc on saturday for something stronger.
