Just keep swimmin...

Took Pepper to the vet yesterday - she's down about half a pound, and when you only weigh 6 lbs that 's a lot! She gets more pellets and some alfalfa with her timothy hay until she puts it back on. Two probable causes for it - the found some tooth points and ground them down, but also probably some from the pasteurella. Like when you have a cold and you're so stuffed up that nothing tastes right? She probably feels the same when she has a flare-up.

Crunched the numbers from unemployment and it doesn't look good. But I will be eligible for food stamps which should help a lot. you can apply for them online too now. I've got everything paid for now - including December assessment - and enough to stock up at Sams Club but come December it's going to be really tight around here.

Still playing The HumanThermostat at least until Tuesday when the new new water feeder can be installed. Have to draft a letter to the old heating company explaining which bills we're not paying and why.

Once I'm done with the Sams Club stuff I'll start on the major cleaning around here - I think the kitchen first.

no but I can certainly go find one! My monthly bus pass just reset before the job went poof so I have unlimited transit until early Dec.

Normally I have my New Years Turkey - that's teh one I buy after Xmas when they go on sale, and roast up for the freezer and a couple of gallons of turkey soup.

Turkey is so useful this way... I tend to buy one in the post Christmas sale and we have it either at Easter or if friends come to stay in the cold, lean days of February.

I'm roasting two chickens this afternoon. They will make Roast Chook for today, re-visited roast chook on Tuesday, several sandwiches for packed lunches, Blamanger of chook on Friday, and gallons of leek & potato soup for next Saturday and to go in the freezer as emergency rations.

See today's post - I roasted up 2 on-sale chickens and have various forms of meat in the freezer and a stockpot of soup cooling in the fridge
