I have been blessed with two consecutive con-chairs and a programming head who just say "whatever you need to get it done" and then get out of my way! They are willing to put up with my low tolerance for pointless meetings and my desire to only take people as panelists who actually know their topics as opposed to "any friend of the concom who wanders by" ...mostly because they know I can get results.
