They are very shy and startle easily, although Alice will come up to the bars for a bit of a treat.
They have the condo all day, and in the evening I open the door and gate off the kitchen. They'll come out when they are ready. I want them to know that in general (apart from cleaning) their cage is their safe place and no one will bother them there.
Even Free-Range rabbits like to have a "home burrow" - Pepper decided that in my old apartment that was the space under the papasan chair in the living room, and in my condo it was UnderTheBed.
