we got an outdoor carpet for our deck that seems to work well at keeping our schmutz from falling onto our neighbor's deck. they are pretty cheap at Home Depot. they come in rolls already sized or you can get them cut by the yard. we have a couple planter boxes, too. that's no excuse for the guy to come kill off your plants, though!!! wth?? who DOES that??
