New job - condensed version

  • stressy night - not as much sleep as I'd like.

  • got there early - earlier than boss.

  • nifty coffee/tea machine brews fresh out of little packages. Nummy!

  • file system makes no sense yet - must learn.

  • Office Mgr took me to lunch at The Walnut Room @ Marshall Fields. Crab cakes & Key Lime Pie. mmmmmm

  • Spent afternoon re-formatting a scanned document. Must look up "track changes" and "styles" stuff in Word.

  • Have to learn legal paranoia - leave nothing face-up on your desk & shred-parties 3x daily

  • it takes 30 minutes to get to Rob's from work, even with a fight breaking out on the bus.

  • I am very sleepy. Drifted off on Comfy-Couch(tm) while watching Muppets

(Rob is looking better. He's still tired-looking, but his color is better and he is much less puffy. Quiet evening of pizza and DVDs.)

A FIGHT breaking out on the bus???!!! YEESH!!

Glad to hear Rob's looking better! How was yesterday, then??

(If that reads disjointed, insert standard over-tired excuses)

I was towards the back, in the sort of "well" where the back door of the bus is. Guy shoved someone out the door - that guy landed on his ass on the sidewalk, and then tried to come back in after the other guy. I yanked the door shut, as it was pretty obvious I was about to get stuck in the middle of something I didn't want to be in!

Job is going well, I think. The Firm Administrator seems pleased, at any rate. Getting used to the way things are done here. I'm in the middle of downtown Chicago, so much window-shopping at lunch hours! Still not used to the sleep schedule yet, but it will happen.

Good news - I get a week's vacation as of October, and have already asked if I can take it a week earlier than it's technically allowed, so the wedding-plus trip is still on, only one day shorter. So, if your schedule permits, I'm still up for a tree-visit, or at the very leadt a capi-visit!
