Yes, I'm actually using a packing list for this trip. Have to. Have 9 days of everything from semi-formals to driving clothes, dressing for metal-detectors and dressing for cold winds. Luckily I get to toss in a load of laundry @ [livejournal.com profile] that_david's place. Managed to get it down to 3 pairs of shoes, at least. (pretty shoes for wedding, velvet slippers for flying & driving, and well-broken-in sneakers for everything else)

I used to use packing lists - ever since I went home for holidays from college for 3 weeks and forgot to pack any socks. Then most of my travel began to involve costumes, and I started packing my the "hanger method" - everything for one outfit, including jewelry, undies & shoes goes on one or two hangers and gets folded like that right into the bag. That way, even if I forget something, it won't show on stage.

But I have to pack for flexibility this time - I'll be sleeping in 2 motels and 3 people's homes, and living out of that bag for more than a week. Only bringing one pair of shorts - looks like highs of 67-72 for most of the week.

Printed out most of my driving directions - I have them in my Palm, but I dread squinting at that thing in traffic. I also will have my handy-dandy Mobil Road Atlas. Need to make a few confirmation phone calls tomorrow.

[livejournal.com profile] capi & [livejournal.com profile] that_david, I am relying on you to get me from his place to hers.

I have sorted out what busses I will need while in San FranCircus itself, and my MUNI map finally arrived. Have to get myself the 3-day MUNI pass someplace - I may not need all $15 worth of it, but I want the flexibility. Found their trip-planner site and put the routes to my planned places into the Palm. Have the BART and CalTrain schedules in there too, just in case. I have maps, and guides, and guides to my maps...I even set up my little organizer folder with all the crap I need, by which day I need it.

[livejournal.com profile] rmjwell, is there any kind of multi-ride deal on the SamTrans KX bus? Also, how far are you from the CalTrain station in Redwood City? There is some kind of stoopid rule about having luggage on the KX bus - something about them getting fed funding and a private bus company suing for unfair competition. So I'll need to take CalTrain to BART to get back to the airport on the 9th.

Have I mentioned recently how irritating SF public transit is?

You got it, Shugah-cakes Birfday Gurl! It will take you less than ten minutes. *grin* Maybe less than five! Wait... you'll be in traffic. Scratch that: it won't be less than five.

The weather is highly variable here this time of year, and you'll be in the Bay Area (chilly and damp) and Sac (cool mornings, hot afternoons) and the Redwoods (chilly, damp, sometimes warm), so bring layers, lady. You'll want shoes or boots you can tromp in for our little jaunt. *grin* Don't worry; capi doesn't have the stamina for anything rigorous...

What foods shall i be stocking for our snackies, hmmmmmm??

*note: just checked Sacto weather and we're totally expecting NOT-HOT weather! Nothing even remotely hundreds-ish, nor even 90-ish! Lucky you!! *hee* Remember comfy jammies!!

Directions are not a problem

I know the area where [livejournal.com profile] capi lives and the best route to there from where I am. Presuming that you have the actual street address -- my handy-dandy Thomas Bros. Sacramento map and I can direct you the rest of the way without any problems.

From the last discussion on this, I guess I should expect you sometime between 3-5 pm? Looking forward to seeing you! ^_~
