Hope for this country

http://www.denverpost.com/Stories/0,1413,36~34001~2515909,00.html

"Boulder - About 85 students remained holed up inside the library at Boulder High School early today, saying they're concerned about the direction the country is headed and refusing to leave until they've met with leaders from the Republican Party...."We want them to reassure us that our fears are misguided and that the government is doing everything in its power to prevent our futures from being destroyed," said senior Brian Martens."

I have (I hope) sent an e-mail to the teacher quoted in the article, asking if there is an e-mail or website address that messages of support can be sent. If I can get one, I will post it here.

God, I'm cynical. I think they're gonna have a looooooooooong wait!

That's pretty cool...

I'd like to see it, so I'm glad you're planning to post it if you get it. :) I think it's fantastic that those kids are trying to *do* something constructive, productive and positive -- they have valid concerns, and instead of just ignoring them or trying to turn them off, they're making them plainly known to those who will have the power to do something about it. Good for them!

Not very successful so far. The school district seems to use a firstname.lastname@ e-mail format (from a few links on the school's website). However, using that format for the teacher quoted bounced. So I tried again using "info@" and requesting that teh message be forwarded to that person, and got back something about "exceeding permissible forwarding", so I'm not sure what that means.

I will keep trying, though. I want them to know how much I (and others) admire what they are doing.

Hmm

I wonder if 'exceeding permissible forwarding' means that too many people have written to them or something...? Or just that they won't forward anything at all... Hmm. Hmm indeed.
