Thank you to all the "friendly native guides" who responded to my request for info about San Fran-circus.
Have ordered many maps and brochures, and have made general plans.
Flying into Oakland. BART/CalTrain to Menlo Park. I am informed that there is a CalTrain stop within 2 blocks of my motel.
2.5 days of assorted weddingness. Found motel with sane prices across the street from blitheringly expensive "preferred" hotel.

capi. Time and schedules permitting, we will take a day and go look at pretty big trees.
Back to SF andrmjwell's spare bedroom. With this as a base of operations, take 2 days to play tourist in the city.
Day one Fisherman's Wharf/Alcatraz/sea lions/Chinatown
Day two Haight/Ashbury and Golden Gate Park.
Then back to airport the next day and fly away home. Have the weekend to launder and recover before back to work on Monday.
