sleep?

My sleep schedule is completely screwed up. Thanks to boring books this weekend I did a LOT of napping on the sofa, so I'm slowly going noctournal again. Now I seem to be getting 4-5 hours at night and 4-5 in the afternoon. Does that mean I'm aging faster?

Had 2 interviews today, 2 tomorrow, and one Wednesday. So far. Of course, it'd be nice if any of these turned out to be an actual job, but I'm not holding my breath. I am, however, coming up with multiple variations for the "Why does a Northwestern graduate want to work as a secretary/receptionist,switchboard operator...?" Umm - because my landlord likes it when I pay my rent, and I enjoy eating on a regular basis? I'm not looking for a "career", I'm looking for a "job"!

Tomorrow I have to schlep all the way out to Schaumburg, which is 2 hours by public transit, for testing and interview. The job itself would be in Skokie, but I get to spend nearly all day on the bus just to get the chance. It is sad that I will be right next to the L5 point of malldom, with such lovelies as Torrid, Ikea, and the Lands End Inlet stores, and I have no money! wah.

If these interviews had not come in, I'd be packing to drive to Missouri. The Ivy Soapworks people have ended up with an exrra van that needs to get to their place in Columbia, so I was going to drive it and get a lift back w/Joseph. Alas, real-life intrudes.

Bistro is almost back to his old self, with a slight turnout on the injured foot the only remaining sign. He re-discovered evrerything after I cleaned his tank, and he's now madly racing in the wheel. Wonder why he almost always goes in the same direction?

I feel really good about the inetrview I had this morning. I have the second interview set up with HR for Friday morning, and we even discussed possible start dates. They seem to respect that someone with my qualifications is really just looking for a job with a paycheck, and the head of ISS introduced me to several of the team while I was there.

It'd be a switchboard operator job, 9-5:30, with union protection & bennies. A little less than my last job but the same as ACS, and all 18 Jewish holidays off! (plus good insurance including dental & vision)

I feel good enough about it that I took a chance and canceled my screening in Schaumburg. I really didn't want to haul all the way out there for only a chance at a temp-to-perm. I am going to my other local interview tomorrow though - no sense in overloading the proverbial basket.

Ran into the former legal sec from the evil law firm job. ::waves to Cheryl - hope your meetings with the temp services went well.:: We commisserated about our woes. She got her benefits on appeal, and they are now protesting that appeal. She has a procedural hearing on Friday. Blech - as if we didn't know already that these people were self-centered vindictive assholes...

So I'm gonna laze about all afternoon. Go me.
(Okay, maybe I'l finally finish Beth's skirt....)
