Once Friday Night settled in, the rest of the con was pretty much good low-key fun. Hung about with people in the Lobby and ConSuite. Spent waaay more than I expected in the Dealer's Room, but mostly on stuff I was going to get anyway. A storm-grey haori from [livejournal.com profile] singlemaltsilk for $25, the new Jim Butcher and Charles DeLint hardcovers, and a new 16" bodhran with a nice deep sound that is turning out to be a joy to play.

Movie Trailer panel - now we all know it's all about the Swag. Got a MI3 hat, a "The Hills Have Eyes" t-shirt, rubber Doom, Despair, Death, and Desertion bracelets for "Through a Scanner Darkly, and a poster for "Superman".

Saw many trailers, some of which didn't suck. The new Shamalayn 'Lady in the Water' looks interestingly creepy. Actually saw a preview for 'Snakes on a Plane' which was pretty much what I had expected - people screaming and running around on a plane, with lots of snakes. Little snakes wriggling and biting, big snakes falling from overhead...lots and lots of snakes. 'Ghost Rider' looks awesome - the SFX look great and the trailer is very promising. Plus the fact that Nicholas Cage does not usually pick totally worthless scripts, and I am cautiousle optimistic about this one. And thank you Nancy Mildebrandt for pointing out that in the first trailer for POTC, it really does sound like Davy Jones (aka 'Captain Cthulhu") is actually saying "Jack Sparrow, you have a dead toupee".

Then Rob(No Way) dragged me back down to the film room later for a viewing of "Turkish Star Wars". Um - wow. This will get it's very own entry when I have time later today, but Rob you have much to answer for...

Saturday night parties were, as usual, much better than Friday. Lots of nice people, yummy drinkies, and decent snackies. Alternated between the OdCon, ConClave, and Sue&Kevin's rooms mostly, with some stops in the two '08 bid rooms for food. The Mead Guy was there again, with a Raspberry that was lovely, a Tart Cherry that was a bit tart for me but I could see the appeal, and a Spiced that made my tummy all warm and Christmassy. Renee brought folks for the Virgin Sacrifice - one of whom ran like a sissy-girl and left his beer behind before he was successfully recaptured.

Stayed up waaaay too late before snagging about 3 hours of sleep before getting ready to pack up. All im all not the greatest con around, but certainly not the worst.

This coming weekend is the Custer Street Fair in Evanston.

Does anyone want to go on Saturday the 17th? [livejournal.com profile] jazmyn33 has just moved to Evanston from Minnesota, and I'm looking forward to finally meeting her and possibly introduce her to some of you.

I was thinking meeting someplace obvious, maybe 1-2 or so, and wander for a while. I've got stuff to do in the evening, so this would work for me.

Anyone?

I programmed Northwestern's 24-Hour B-Fest for 3 years.

I own both The Golden Turkey Awards and Son of The Golden Turkey Awards.

'Monster Week' on the 4:30 movie on WABC ch7 was a formative part of my childhood experience.

I am PROUD to say that I own a copy of 'Night of the Lepus'. I also own 'Invasion of the Bee Girls' and 'Zombies on Broadway'.

These are f*cking art-house films compared to Dünyayi kurtaran adam, aka "Turkish Star Wars"

You can click if you wish, but don't say I didn't warn you... )

I took my brand-new VSP info over to an optician about a block from my office and I have an appointment for tomorrow lunchtime. Yay for soon-to-be new glasses!
