Wow - I just got discriminated against!
Jun. 26th, 2006 10:39 amOne of the buildings I looked at on Saturday called me back - and said that the couldn't show me the apartment because I had been on the job less than a year.
Umm - no.
My rent history and credit history are excellent. My Visa card just nearly doubled my limit. The fact that some of these bills have been paid with IL Unemployment Benefits is irrelevant.
Chicago has a Fair Housing ordinance that specifies that you cannot refuse to rent or show an apartment to someone based on "race, color, sex, age, religion, disability, national origin, ancestry, sexual orientation, marital status, parental status, military discharge status or source of income."
First they said "1 year employment", then they said "1 year of continuous income from same source"
Um - not gonna fly here.
