Think it's bad enough that pharmacists can refuse to fill a doctor's prescription if they have "moral objections" to it?
What if you can't find a doctor who will prescribe it?
Summary - a woman who had a contraceptive failure tried to obtain emergency contraception was denied by SIX different doctors, hospitals and clinics. They asked her all kinds of questions about her marital and relationship status and whether the sex was consensual, but NOT A SINGLE QUESTION about her medical history!
Thank the gods that Illinois has a law requiring pharmacies to fill prescriptions if the medication is in stock. Though some pharmacies can get around that by not stocking medications they "don't believe in".
I urge all women to obtain and fill a prescription for EC and to keep it on-hand. You never know if this could happen to you.
