It's stuff that I can't talk about publically for at least a few weeks, but part of it involves someone using my "difficult personality" as partial justification for doing what the hell they want to anyway. They are going to do what they are going to do, but I wish they'd leave me out of it.

I'm not the easiest person in the world to get along with, but no one is without faults, and this person has issues that have caused just as much problem in the past as my supposed "problems".

So I'm feeling about 3cm tall. Happy frickin 40th to me! (it's actually Wednesday)

And on top of everything else...

Our accounting system was not backed up, and is on one of the stolen servers.

So I not only have to re-create 9 months of entries from scratch, but I probably have to learn a new accounting system while doing it.

I wanna go back to bed.

oh dear

The tribune review of Heroes is out.

"A nominee for fall's worst new drama

You could watch the first few episodes of “Heroes,” or you could repeatedly hit yourself on the head with a brick. The effect is surprisingly similar.

“Heroes” is a drama about regular people who develop superpowers, and it appears to have been reverse-engineered: It gives the impression that the creators of the show said, “Hey, let’s make a show that will appeal to comic-book geeks and `Lost’ freaks!”

Not a bad idea, but the turgid, slow-motion execution on display in “Heroes” (8 p.m. Monday, WMAQ-Ch. 5) is an insult to America’s nerd nation. We deserve better than this stinky mess.

“Heroes” is what you’d get if you crossed the “Spider-Man” flicks and “Lost,” but took out the interesting characters, suspenseful plotting, compelling dialogue and imaginative storytelling. One wonders if the title of the show was a response to the mandate for one-word monikers this fall: A more appropriate name would be “Watching Paint Dry.”

But tell us how you really feel...

Guess I'll get to do laundry after all.

Well, I'm not sure about the "hitting yourself in the head with a brick" metaphor, but they weren't far off.

Heroes was well meaning but clumsy and intermittently annoying. They are trying for the interconnectedness of LOSt without the subtlety and good writing to go with it. The stereotypical Japanese wimp/fanboy with superpowers whose first teleport is into the women's restroom at a karaoke club? Yeah - now THAT's original.

Sigh. It has potential, but I doubt it will last. I'l stay with it as long as I have nothing better to do, because another take on the
