A loss from Scarby
Jan. 12th, 2007 07:02 pmrillaspins asked if this was someone we knew, but I at least did not.
However, I know a bunch of KCRF folks are on my F-list so I thought I should pass the word.

For those who go down to Scarborough Faire,
I regret to inform you that Cecily Coleman-Ashcroft passed away earlier
this week. She played Lady Ellen Stewart, and was one of the warmest,
cheeriest people I have ever met, and had the wickedest laugh and gleam of
the eye I have ever seen.
I know she had been sick for a while, but know no details past that.
http://www.robynsroost.com/scarby04/week8/part15.JPG - not the best picture,
but what I could find a link for.

Overengineering?
Jan. 12th, 2007 08:36 pmI got a new backpack today.
It was on sale, and being as my old one is the one I got in high school I felt it was time to upgrade. So for $30 I ordered one, in black of course.
OMG it had pockets. It has pockets in its pockets in its pockets! It has straps and buckles andall kinds of things. I'm never going to remember where I put anything in there. At least I know I'll never get pickpocketed on the subway. Any would-be theif would never be able to figure out which pocket had anything worth stealing.
It even has a loop to hang an ice axe on! I know this not only from the description, but because it very helpfully has a tiny silver ice-axe machine-embroidered next to it. One would think that if one were the sort of person to actually USE an ice axe, one would know very well where it should go. But Jansport decided that wasn't good enough, so they put a helpful little picture there. So now I can go ice climbing, because I am assured of a proper loop to hang my ice-axe from.
Yeah, I'll get right on that.
