Mostly because there was a tree down on Chase and I didn't get power back until around 8, so I was rooting around in my closet by candlelight trying to find stuff my air mattress.
So I don't have as much hand-sewing prepped for the weekend as I'd like - only one bodice worth of eyelets to sew, but I'm also bringing my grey wool felt hat that I can finger-knit a hatband and braid a cord for, so I should have a decent amount of stuff to do with my hands. 3 days at a small faire with only 4 shows a day means I am likely to find myself pretty bored.
I'm loading up some Tempest, Blackmore's Night, and Steeleye Span (for the road) and LOTR Soundtracks (for me) into my MP3 player, and I've got everything except makeup and my nebulizer packed up and ready to go. Those I need in the morning.
Any bets as to what I'm going to forget? It has become somewhat of a tradition that everyone forgets one reasonably important thing on the first road gig of the season, when the "kit" has to be all reassembled - something always gets left out. Toothpaste, belt, deodorant, mug, ribbon, hat, chap-stik, socks, sunscreen, etc. It's never been anything catastrophic - merely mildly annoying, and usually necessitating a quick trip to the local WalMart for a substitute. Luckily
jcw_da_dmg has already located the Viroqua WalMart on the map so we're good to go.
Luckily, once this storm front comes through tonight it's only supposed to be highs in the low 70s here all weekend, so I can leave Pepper-bunny home with just the window fan and she should be fine. Her hay is topped off and I'll set out extra pellets, veggies, and water before I leave tomorrow night. She's done a 3-day by herself before and was just fine.
Damn I have a LOT of stuff to bring! mostly because I have to bring air mattress and bedding this weekend. So I have my usual suitcase,my bedroll, my backpack, the cd/tip basket and my instruments. I was going to meet people at AIR but I think I'm going to see if
woodywhistler can swing by my place instead and THEN head over there to load up the cartop carrier. I'm not sure I can get all this sh*t up the stairs to the train.
This real-job-with-paid-holidays stuff is pretty keen. Technically I'm getting paid twice for Monday.
