The "odd" part was heading up to the gig at the Wilmette Arts Festival on the CTA. Now I'm used to getting odd looks when taking the train fully garbed up, but I've never had someone get up and move because I sat down near them. I guess I'm very scary. BOO

I was sitting on the platform at Howard Street waiting for the Purple line when [livejournal.com profile] jcw_da_dmg turned up. "Is this the waiting room for da funny-lookin people?"

It was alobvely day - a cool breeze but it got quite toasty sitting in the sun. I wore regular garb with my leather slash-sleeve doublet-thing over it, and was comfy in the shade and a but warm in the sun. Both sets went well. We had nice pleasant people listening and taking pictures. Tips were very fine and we even sold a couple of Minstrosi-CDs and even a cassette!

Got to wander the booths between sets and chatted with some of the artists. The wonderful marquetry guy was there from last year - I adore good marquetry work. Making all the little fiddly-bits line up, and working with the grain of the wood - I could look at a piece for hours. My mother has a couple of pieces she brought back from Russia. This guy also works with some shell inlays as well. There was one underwater-theme piece with angelfish made from mother-of-pearl and some kind of black wood, and another fish made from wood but with the very edges of the shells deliniated with tiny bits of paua shell. Stunning! There was also a woman who did lovely airy jewelry crocheted from fine silver or gold wire and crystal beads, and two more women who also did pottery but I was most imporessed with their brooches made from sparkly-glazed ceramics, dichroic glass, and vintage jewelry parts.

[livejournal.com profile] ashtalet and Candy came to see the 2nd set, so John was able to do some more of the stuff from his "someday-my-solo-cd-will-come". Things were winding down, but we still had quite a few people stop and stay for a few songs. [livejournal.com profile] ashtalet gave us a lift home on his way to the comic shop.

I finally got round to doing laundry, and did the mid-season bleach load for chemises and petticoats. Unfortunately, something in my spray-on sunscreen, when combined with hot water and bleach, turns a bright yellow. Going to have to figure out what to do about that. Maybe soak in oxyclean for a while will take that out?

I even got an I-Go car and got my grocery shopping done. I was going to get a new TV stand at Target, but they only had one corner style in stock, and I wasn't real happy with it. But I did get a new kitchen trash can that is hopefully a little more bunny-proof. She's defeated the old one enough times - yesterday she got out some stale tortillas and had a picnic on the kitchen carpet. The new one opens with a button on the top, so you can't set it off while sitting on the top. I'm getting tired of vacuuming.

My knee is pretty achy because I pushed myself a bit today in the walking department, but it was in a good cause. Tomorrow I have NOTHING to do. I'm going to nap, and read, and watch TV and nap some more. I might do a little housework (there are some serious bun-bleweeds behind the futon) but the point is that I don't HAVE to. Weather is supposed to remain cool and dry - high of 70, so I can open the windows and just veg. I'm positively giddy at the thought. Cuz next weekend is back to MiRF, and then the Four Kingdoms faire, and then Stronghold.....
