It's coming up on that time again!

THe 6th Chicago Maritime Festival sets sail at the Chicago History Museum on Saturdat February 23rd. There are presentations and concerts all day, a special concert in the evening, and usually an open Chanty Sing on Sunday afternoon.
I will once again be performing with the Old Town School Sea Music Class, as well as the All-Hands sing-in, Sing-Out, and evening concert finale. I will probably be volunteering again as well.
So think about stopping by or even volunteering! We always need people to give directions, sell tickets and T-shirts, or make coffee - and for 4 hours of this (since you were going to be there anyway) you get free admission to BOTH the day events and evening concert.

Who are you today?
Jan. 24th, 2008 08:03 pmThis is my obligatory "Heath Ledger Is Dead" post.
Not that this has much if anything to do with him per se. I can't say I was a huge fan of his or anything. As of this evening's news, it seems to have been a horrible accident - a bad case of pneumonia while you are on several different medications which can make you sleepy or depress your breathing, and that's pretty much an accident waiting to happen.
But what struck me most was the much quoted interview where he mentioned that he had a lot of trouble sleeping while playing The Joker for the upcoming Batman film. Some of the medications he was on were for anxiety and insomnia, and they may well have contributed to his death. This got me thinking - about how hard it is to be yourself when your job involves being other people.
( Who am I today - great performance or psychotic break? )
