Poor Pepper has a horribly tummyache.

Apparently she got into a free sample packet of Citrucel (sweetened and flavored fiber supplement) - I found it scattered around the hallway carpet.

She didn't come running for her greens as usual, and when I went looking for her she didn't come out. She stayed hunched up in the corner, and wouldn't take cilantro when I shoved it in front of her nose. I picked her up and her poor tummy is all blown up and bloated.

So I gave her some simethecone drops (what you use for babies when they have gas) and rubbed her tummy for while. She didn't fight me, so I KNOW she's feeling poorly.

She wiggled loose after about 5 minutes, and went back to the corner. I have to allow time for the meds to work, so I'm going to go ahead and go to gaming. Hopefully she will be better when I get home.

So everybody pray for bunny-farts!

When I got home from gaming she was still hide-y but her tummy was MUCH less puffy (she had been swelled up like a furry little balloon).

She took another dose of meds, and 2 syringes of water, and let me rub her tummy again for a bit.

She is starting to come out and sniff around, and she even nibbled at some parsely and green pepper, so I think we're past the worst. I'll set an alarm to check about 2AM to see if she's eaten anything, and if so then I think we can call this one over.

Thanks for all the vibes and advice - Despite her penchant for getting into everything this is the first time she's been ill enough to miss a meal. Luckily, when I first got her I knew to get a basic emergency kit together, so I had the simethecone, syringes, and even some emergency food-mush-mix you can use to force-feed if needed. Knowing I had all this stuff in the house if needed made this a lot easier.
