They found my wallet at the tea shop on Dearborn! Have to go today to get cash cuz EVERYONE who worked last night gets a tip.

Then I think I'll go back to the library and get the books I was in line to check out when I realized my wallet was gone. Need to do some costume research for Marcon. If they already have their judges, I may as well compete, and I've had this one in mind for a while - bought the DVD just in case.

I was 'sposed to meet someone from Geek-2-Geek there last night and he didn't show. Waited 20 minutes and then when I got home I sent a message that said "no second chances" and blocked his ass. Since he'd already rescheduled once (it was 'sposed to be last Thursday) I think that is fair. Besides, I'm already meeting someone else from there at the Field Museum on Saturday and another guy for coffee in Evanston next week some time.

Found someone to split the room with at Marcon, and we can each afford half so no need to stuff the room just to pay the bill. [livejournal.com profile] ladyariyanna, if you guys want to come up for the day on Saturday and stash gear in the room that'd be fine.

OK - I have a costume recreation I'd like to do for Marcon, so I was trying to grab screencaps from a DVD to use for reference and documentation. I've never done this before, and I think I'm missing something obvious.

I have a Dell Laptop with a DVD-RW drive and windows XP.

Using "printscreen" and pasting to save in a variety of picture formats gives me a bunch of pictures of the DVD software frame with nothing inside. I've tried using PowerDVD and Windows Medial Player 11, using print screen and trying to paste into Photoshop 5.5, Microsoft Publisher - save picture and trying to export to a variety of formats(which appears OK on the screen but then reopening the file later shows the same frame), or exporting it as html and then opening in a browser. None of them seem to work.

I'm going to be a panelist but NOT judging this time around, so I'd like to acquit myself well, and it's a fairly obscure character/costume so I NEED the documentation. Help?
